Just a day more, and soon the new year will be upon us. What has 2007 been like for you? What has 2007 brought about in you? These are questions I’m sure most of us would ask ourselves either today or the eve of the new year. And I’m sure that there’d be many who will be making new year resolutions too.
This past year hasn’t been a great one for me in terms of success as the world defines it. There has been no breakthrough career-wise, much less financially. In fact, quite the opposite has happened — I’ve seen a fall in my take-home income and seem to be stagnant in terms of career advancement. There have also been some difficulties that had me tossing and turning in bed, worrying about this issue or that problem.
Casey once told me to get off my ass to find a new church to attend and fellowship, and I think I have managed to get both of that done just this morning.
There was only standing room inside the cabin of the train I was riding to work — which meant that I was off my ass — and saw a large yellow banner between, I think, Queenstown and Commonwealth stations, that advertised a church service at 3 pm Saturday on the Law of Moses.
(I board the train at Lakeside train station and alight at Tanjong Pagar every morning.)
That looks good! Now, I cannot tell for sure if they have services only on Saturdays or if it’s a one-off, but I have rarely seen churches advertising services on Saturday so that’s one positive sign.
Ed’s post on his blog about how jaded he is having to juggle so many things and also taking on the burdens and tasks of others because he can be a softie (like me) inspired this post.
In my previous post about surrendering to God’s will when we pray, I talked about how I am learning to really let God’s will drive my life instead of going it alone like Rambo.
Since then I’ve been trying my hardest to follow up on what I said I was going to do in terms of surrendering my life to God’s will, and here I will share a few things that I’ve been doing and that which I find really helpful.
Pray, keep praying and more importantly, make prayer the first thing or one of the first things you do before you begin your day. In that prayer, give praise to God for everything, and surrender the day to God.
