Shabbat

I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Refrain
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

And now complete in Him
My robe His righteousness,
Close sheltered ’neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.

When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I’ll lay my trophies down
All down at Jesus’ feet.

This is the second Shabbat that I have opted to feature a sermon instead of a song. This week, I will be sharing this short sermon by John MacArthur on how and why we should confess our sins with an exposition of Psalm 51. So, if you have your Bible at hand, join me as we listen together to John MacArthur teach.

I pray that you’ll blessed by this sermon as much as I have.

Shabbat Shalom.

It’s Karen’s recommendation this Shabbat.

Funnily enough, I’ve never heard this great song until it was featured on a radio program, but she has and was singing along to it when it came on! Hmm…

We’ll also like to take this opportunity to wish our dear American brethren and sisters a very happy 4th of July.

Happy 4th of July!

Shabbat Shalom!

Boldly proclaim the Truth and let not those who seek to compromise or mangle the Word of God discourage you by their words of man’s condemnation. God’s Word and Truth is the Light that shall overcome darkness. Men hate the Light for their deeds are done in darkness, but we who walk with the Lord must do our utmost to shine His Light in the world, aye, even to the detriment of our lives.

When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is it you, you troubler of Israel?” And he answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father’s house, because you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals.

1 Kings 18:17-18

There is no God like JEHOVAH!

Shabbat Shalom.

Instead, I have lined up for you one of my favorite sermons by Paul Washer. May it bless and encourage you as it had me.

Shabbat Shalom.

There are two things that might come to your mind when reading the headline that I just posted, namely

  1. I am now advocating Seventh-Day Adventist doctrines
  2. I am out of my mind because, well, the mark of the Beast is traditionally believed to be some micro-chip that will be implanted into the foreheads/hands in the end-times

A short answer for your doubt on point (1) is an emphatic “no”, while my answer for point (2) is that we don’t know for sure, and the theory about the microchip might just be what it is — a theory.

Whatever it is, we should let the Word of God speak loudly to us on the issue, and this is where I would recommend that you should watch this video (which is about 1.5 hours long) explain how we have strayed from observing the true Sabbath that has been given to all — Jews and Gentiles alike — by God since Creation, instead choosing to follow the tradition of men given to the world by, horror of horrors, the Whore of Babylon!

Regrettably, I have never heard Steven Curtis Chapman until the tragic death of his beloved daughter Maria just this May. Since hearing this song by him when it was played on a radio station to comfort him and his family, it has become one of my favorite songs.

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

Psalm 46:1-11

Shabbat Shalom.

Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?” And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. And he went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who was seated on the throne. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying,

This song for Shabbat has a special meaning for me as, with thanksgiving, I seek God’s own Will for me following the episode at work last Friday.

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

Shabbat Shalom.

Glorious morning!I read an article some time ago (and therefore cannot remember where it was so please let me know if you’re the author), that speaks about how even though many don’t see a difference between observance of the Shabbat on Saturday or Sunday, there is indeed a difference.

And I am writing about it tonight because it really got me thinking and seeing how true it is!

I love it when I come across music videos showing how all the people of the earth who love the Lord, though of different races and from different cultures but all of one voice, come to sing praises to Him and dance to celebrate His glory and majesty!

Here’s our meditation this Shabbat:

for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

Galatians 3:26-29

Hallelu et Adonai! Amen, and amen!

If you love Messianic praise music as much as I do, check out Ted Pearce, a former atheist who came to give his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and today composes and sings some of the most amazing Messianic praise music.

Lord Jesus, thou art

Above all powers, above all kings,
Above all nature and all created things.
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man,
You were here before the world began.

Above all kingdoms, above all thrones.
Above all wonders this world has ever known.
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth,
There’s no way to measure what you’re worth.

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

Frans Francken II. Sabbath. Canvas. 1607Daniel at Messy Pastor mentioned that in our zeal to observe the Sabbath on the proper day as sanctified by God, we shouldn’t fall into the danger of still being bonded by the old Laws as did the Galatians.

Previously, I have written quite a lot on the importance of observing the Sabbath on the seventh day of the week just as God had sanctified it.

That led me to earnestly read Paul’s letter to the Galatians.

Moses and the Ten CommandmentsDear friends, have you read this?

No, no, don’t click it and go away yet! Let me first tell you what it’s about.

Pope Benedict XVI, at the end of his tour of Austria earlier this month, warned that the observance of Sunday worship was “not just a ‘precept’ to be casually adhered to, but a ‘necessity’ for all people.”

Did you notice he said that Sunday worship was a “necessity for all people“?

Does that send alarm bells ringing in your head? It did for me.

It is light and not burdensomePerhaps I have been confusing myself with the unnecessary.

Perhaps I was looking for more than what Yahweh has already prescribed through Christ Jesus as sufficient to justify salvation.

And in the process, added weight to my heart where it should have been light, and full of praise and worship unto Yahweh.

Why should I trouble much when Yeshua had already given us the commandments that we should all live by and observe as His followers?

KashrutI have been reading chapters 10, 11 and 15 of Acts over and over again in relation to the debate on circumcision that has been going on in the follow-up to my post on the visit to Hephzibah Christian Fellowship just last Shabbat.

The reason for the repeated readings?

To ascertain for myself if indeed we need to observe the Kashrut, or Jewish dietary laws as Christians.

Finally, it’s the Shabbat and today is also finally the day when I can pay a visit to Hephzibah Christian Fellowship and find out more about them.

Finding the place was a breeze. After alighting at Queenstown MRT station, it was only about a 350 meter walk to the building itself.

As advised by one of the elders, Michael, I arrived a little late as he had previously told me that services don’t really start on time as they usually have a home group at church that he leads.

It All Looks Good!

The service is held on the fourth floor, but Michael was on the second floor of the building to welcome me, which was really nice of him. Upon entering the service hall, I was pleased to find no extraneous decorations like images of saints or a figure on a crucifix. In fact, there wasn’t even a crucifix to be seen anywhere, which is great.
