Roman Catholicism

It is not unloving to tell the truth. You can get in a lot of trouble for doing it, but it is not unloving.

Dr. Walter Martin

I have said this on a number of occasions lately, but it remains just as true, the Christian had better know what time he currently lives in. We are witnessing a blending of the pragmatic Purpose Driven Church, the postmodern Emerging Church and the worldly Word Faith Church now forming the major pillars of the Devil’s Ecumenical Church of Deceit (ECoD)—duplicitous daughter of apostate Roman Catholicism. Even just a couple years ago one would never imagine common bonds developing between them.

And at their corrupt core what each of them share is the warped psycho-babble version of “love” largely foisted upon the Body of Christ through Robert Schuller a la his man-pleasing mantra, “God loves you and so do I.” But you need to come to see that this postevangelical “Love Train” has some seriously misguided misunderstandings about God’s view of sin and how He wants His Body of Christ to react to it. Yes the Lord tells us to love our enemies; however, the Scripture also teaches we must surely also abhor what these people are doing in His Name.

There are two things that might come to your mind when reading the headline that I just posted, namely

  1. I am now advocating Seventh-Day Adventist doctrines
  2. I am out of my mind because, well, the mark of the Beast is traditionally believed to be some micro-chip that will be implanted into the foreheads/hands in the end-times

A short answer for your doubt on point (1) is an emphatic “no”, while my answer for point (2) is that we don’t know for sure, and the theory about the microchip might just be what it is — a theory.

Whatever it is, we should let the Word of God speak loudly to us on the issue, and this is where I would recommend that you should watch this video (which is about 1.5 hours long) explain how we have strayed from observing the true Sabbath that has been given to all — Jews and Gentiles alike — by God since Creation, instead choosing to follow the tradition of men given to the world by, horror of horrors, the Whore of Babylon!

Recently in India, as many as 50 people in Kottayam district went blind after staring at the sun for a prolonged period of time looking for an image of the “Virgin Mary”.

Believing in false signs and wonders can be dangerous and even detrimental to one’s health as evidenced in the story. Yet throughout generations, man has been looking for divine signs and wonders to prove the existence of God and/or bolster their faith.

Many of us Christians shake our heads at that, but what we don’t realize is that in the Visible Church itself, many are looking for the same things.

I am not talking about the Roman Catholic obsession with miracles and apparitions of Mary (I don’t consider the Roman Church part of the Visible Church anyhow), but the obsession with signs such as tongues, healing, and other ‘miracles’ in some Christian circles.

No Rain

Sand, sand everywhere, and not a drop of water!Sorry, but you aren’t seeing any new posts of interest because it’s been a dry spell so far, and I’ve got nothing to say.

Guess it’s a reprieve for some, and a groan of disappointment from others (hopefully there are some out there).

I’ve got some topics lined up, but somehow the ability to write has left me so I’m rather listless when it comes to facing the editor and actually putting words down.

So I guess this is as good a time as any to get to some meme’s that now have sore backsides sitting too long in the queue.

RosarySince we are on the topic of Roman Catholicism, I shall share with you another reason why I rejected the Roman Catholic Church and her doctrines.

In my testimony, I recounted how Roy, a neighbor and a student of my dad’s, came from a Roman Catholic family and introduced me to Roman Catholicism. Back then, I felt that the statues of saints and of Mary were no different from the idols that my mom has on the family altar.

Today I thank God for giving me wisdom then to discern that fact.

So what is it about the Roman Catholic Church and her teachings about Mary that I disagree with?

Norski’s comment on my post on Christian marriage and how he converted to Roman Catholicism because of what he believed to be Peter’s primacy got me writing a post on this finally.

I’ve always intended to write something on the topic, seeing that I had rejected Roman Catholicism in my journey to Christianity, but it seems that even talking about it can get quite a few people all riled up. However, I feel it’s better to write about it than to keep quiet.

Before I continue, let me make it very clear that I have nothing against Roman Catholics — my wife’s family is Roman Catholic and I have many friends who are Roman Catholics and we get along really well. What I have a problem with is the Roman Catholic Church’s claim to have power over Christians worldwide because of the ‘legitimate’ power of the pope passed on from Peter.

I’ve written so much on Christianity and my Christian views that some of you might be wondering “where did this guy come from?”.

Wonder no more, I’ll tell you a story today — of how I came to be a Christian.

I am the first-born of a Chinese family in Singapore, and took my first breath outside my mother’s womb just before midnight on May 9, 1970.

Dad was a Chinese teacher until his retirement and mom has always been a housewife since I was born. Two brothers followed me — my parents’ 2nd son arrived 4 years later, while their youngest 9 years after. Today, it’s just my younger brother and I, as my youngest brother passed away a couple of years back in a motorcycle accident. He was just 26.

As a young child I was quite sickly and never did a week go by without me having to see the doctor for a bad cough that can keep the entire household awake all night. Exasperated, my mom took the advice of my paternal grandmother, and prayed to Guan Yin (the Chinese goddess of mercy) to cure me.
