Photograph "Rock Concert" by UdyJust last year, I was convicted by the Lord that I should stop listening to the filth that is secular music. Consequently, I began building up a library of Christian music, most of it contemporary, with the likes of Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Paul Baloche, Paul Wilbur, and even Hillsong.

What I then noticed was that much of the songs from some, not all, of these artistes weren’t that Christian, to the point where it was more about “me” rather than the Lord Jesus Christ, or even if there was a reference to God, He was referred to as “He”, “Him”, or even the generic “You” and not specifically.

Worse yet, there were songs which seemed to suggest that the Lord Jesus Christ is our “homeboy”, “boyfriend” and even some needy, lonely man who needs our companionship.

Though I have been too tired to blog in the latter part of last week, I have been spending time reading my favorite blogs and checking out new sites. It is something I haven’t done for some time now, just letting the mouse clicks take me to both duds and gems.

I have here three gems that I’d love to share with you; and I hope that you will find them enjoyable as much as I did.

Hebrew4Christians.com

I love, love, love Hebrew4Christians.com because I have always wanted to learn Hebrew. So far I have been able to catch a few words and trying hard to memorize the Hebrew alphabet, but I have also been blown away by how beautiful Hebrew is (to me at least).

And the best thing about the site is that it has Hebrew audio files of Biblical blessings and prayers like the Aaronic blessing, the Lord’s Prayer, and even Psalm 23!

There are also great articles on the Shabbat, the relationship between the Church and Israel, whether Christians should be circumcised, and interesting topics on whether tattoos are kosher.

I am now really tempted to get the book to learn Biblical Hebrew as a Christmas present to myself, not only to achieve my aim of learning Hebrew but also to support the site.

Sounds of Shalom

Still on Hebrew and Israel — if you love Messianic praise music as much as I do, you’ll love this online radio station! Since discovering it, I’ve left it on whenever I’m at the computer.

The station plays music from popular artistes that most of us know of, like Paul Wilbur, Ted Pearce and Barry & Bayta Segal. In addition, you’ll soon discover many more great artistes like I have.

To play the station, you’ll need the RealPlayer (get the FREE version which is sufficient).

A Little Leaven

This is a gem of a site offering a glimpse into the weird and totally non-Biblical things people and churches are doing today in this age of the great falling away.

Be stumped by what apostates are doing in the name of God, e.g. the gay and lesbian Bible, a “Jesus is my homeboy” thong for ladies, and *gasp!* Christian erotica!

Who needs the devil when you have apostates like them, eh?

I hope you enjoy the sites as much as I have.

Paul Wilbur: Praise AdonaiBono of U2 left, along with John Mayer and a host of others just this afternoon. Well, they left not of their own free will, but because I decided that it was time to kick them out.

Out of my iTunes collection.

You see, I just did a purge of all secular music from my iTunes library and have invited musicians like Don Moen, Paul Baloche, Paul Wilbur and groups like MercyMe and Casting Crowns to take up residence in their stead.
