My good brother Samuel at A Lion Has Roared! has written a great post that made me examine myself and my Christian life. I definitely am not doing justice to his piece with this short introduction, so all I pray is that you, men and women, go read it today.

Men, my brothers, it is indeed my prayer that some of you will hear these words anew, that they might be fresh like that first crisp taste of fall after a long, dry summer. For others, it is also my prayer that these words would be safely familiar — like the sight of smoke from the home place chimney after a long journey away from home — it may be well known, but never before appreciated so greatly. For the rest, these words might sting and make you uncomfortable. In that case, comfortable is the last thing I would want you to be. I pray that you all will be enabled to grasp the severity of the words at hand, and that by them you will not be cowed, but rather convinced. As you read this, as soon as your mind starts to think to itself, “ah! That sure describes those people…” Stop. I am not writing to get “amens”. I am not writing to make a sensation. I am writing to bring about conviction. I might be writing about you, whoever, and wherever you may be. So keep that at the back of your mind as you read on. As soon as you think I have described the “others”, I have already described you.

Mikael Thomsen is a young man in Denmark who burns to preach the true Gospel. Listen as he delivers some thunder from the pulpit to a stunned congregation. Pray for him, this is highly unusual preaching in this part of the world (Danish with English subtitles).

My thanks to AllSufficientGrace for bringing this to my attention.

So, yea, you’d probably guess by now that I’m in a creative mood right now, going by the fact that this is the second sermon jam I’m releasing today, bringing the total number of sermon jams published to three in total so far (with more coming, I promise!).

This is taken from Paul Washer’s sermon titled What Is Your Life Worth? which you can listen to in full at SermonAudio.

Apparently this is about the best one I’ve done so far, according to my wife. I don’t quite agree, but… anyhow, before I get distracted, here’s the download link for the sermon jam.

Enjoy!

Look at actions which you have thought to be great, and upon which you have prided yourself — how will they look at the last?

You made money; you made money fast; you did it very cleverly; you praised yourself for it, just as others have praised themselves for conquering nations, or forcing their way to fame, or lifting themselves into eminence.

Now you are dying, and what do you think of all that? Is it so great as it seemed to be? Oh, how you leaped up to it, how you strained yourself to reach it, and you have got it, and you are dying. What do you think of it now?

The greatest of human actions will appear to be insignificant when we come to die, and especially those upon which men most pride themselves — these will yield them the bitterest humiliation.

We shall then say what madmen we must have been to have wasted so much time and energy upon such paltry things!

When we shall discover that they were not real, that they were but mere bubbles, mere pretenses, we shall then look upon ourselves as demented to have spent the whole of our life and of our energy upon them!

Charles Spurgeon
“Last Things”, Proverbs 5:11

Total SurrenderEd’s post on his blog about how jaded he is having to juggle so many things and also taking on the burdens and tasks of others because he can be a softie (like me) inspired this post.

In my previous post about surrendering to God’s will when we pray, I talked about how I am learning to really let God’s will drive my life instead of going it alone like Rambo.

Since then I’ve been trying my hardest to follow up on what I said I was going to do in terms of surrendering my life to God’s will, and here I will share a few things that I’ve been doing and that which I find really helpful.

Morning Prayer

Pray, keep praying and more importantly, make prayer the first thing or one of the first things you do before you begin your day. In that prayer, give praise to God for everything, and surrender the day to God.
