There are many more, but you should get the idea now.

The question is: Who is this queen? Is she the Queen of Heaven? How could she possibly encompass nations and kingdoms? What will be her fate and the fate of those who follow her? Will signs and wonders associated with this “Queen of All” and her son (the Eucharistic Jesus) usher in the “Eucharistic Reign of Jesus” (also referred to many as the “Second Coming”)?

Queen of Rome, Queen of Islam, Queen of All: The Marian Apparitions plan to unite all religions under the Roman Catholic Church by Jim Telow, Roger Oakland and Brad Myers, provides Biblical answers to these and other questions. The book documents who the “Queen” is and the role she plays to prepare the counterfeit bride for the counterfeit Christ.

Jan Markell interviews one of the authors, Jim Tetlow, who was a Roman Catholic, on the phenomenon. This is hour one of the interview, and I’m waiting eagerly for the second to be made available. Listening to the interview, I’m surprised that many Protestants are beginning to accept Mary as the Roman Catholics do!

Dr. Francis Macnab

Hm… I think some folks are correct in saying that whenever a church has the word “uniting” or “united” in its name, there’s trouble a-brewing.

Dr. Francis Macnab, a noted psychotherapist and executive minister at St. Michael’s Uniting Church in Melbourne, Australia, has proclaimed “a new faith for the 21st Century” that goes beyond orthodox Christianity.

Firing a provocative salvo to launch his new faith, he has claimed, among other things, that the Ten Commandments are “one of the most negative documents ever written”; Abraham is probably a concoction (of the imagination), Moses a mass murderer and Jesus, well, now, he was just a Jewish peasant and certainly was not God.

Elaborating, Dr. Macnab claims that there is no God, “in the usual sense of an interventionist deity” and what most of us strive for is “… a presence both within and beyond us” that brings about a more “humanitarian understanding”.

Hello, Oprah! You have a new friend Down Under!

Dr. Macnab tells us that the new faith “… transcends denominations and religions. It is about searching, not dogma. It seeks the good, the tender and the beautiful, and finds it in Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism, Christianity and Judaism.”

I guess Luke 18:18-19 as well as the Bible’s numerous messages about the total depravity of men aren’t clear enough, bummer.

In addition, Dr. Macnab is also a member of the Jesus Institute, a scholarly but sceptical international enterprise examining the statements attributed to Jesus, that believes that “… there was a real Jesus but we don’t know much about him.”

Gee, mates, if you took the time to study the entire Bible, you’d get to know Him very well. Trust me.

And, finally, this is what made me chunder…

Dr Macnab has been at St Michael’s, where he is minister for life, since 1971. He did not seek wider approval for the campaign, and said some in the Uniting Church would resent it, but some would agree.

This edition of Crosstalk looked at the ramped up persecution in the West when it comes to biblical Christianity from within evangelicalism. Rick Warren’s chief apologist online, Richard Abanes, has publicly likened Ingrid and several colleagues to David Koresh and other cult leaders and claims that they are all marked by:

1. A deep seated ‘us vs. them’ mentality
2. Feelings of persecution
3. Paranoia
4. A kind of xenophobic response to any and all attempts to have a more tolerant/civil approach to various issues.

Ingrid Schlueter and Sarah Leslie (a member of the board of directors of Discernment Ministries and a member of the Discernment Research Group) discuss how and why this attitude has entered the church, others that are promoting it, and how a rejection of biblical eschatology within evangelicalism is helping New Age teachings and Christianity to merge.

Evangelicals and New Agers

We want to call our readers’ attention to a recent article by Constance Cumbey posted at www.newswithviews.com entitled “The Family and its Hijacking of Evangelicalism: Part 1“.

This is a must-read article from the Michigan attorney who first brought the “New Age Movement” to the attention of the evangelical world in the early 1980s in her landmark book The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow (Huntington House, 1983).

In this new article, Cumbey links New Age leaders with evangelical leaders in ways which have heretofore have been undisclosed. Based on the groundbreaking research on the evangelical secret society called “The Family” (or “The Fellowship”) made public by Jeff Sharlet in his recently released book The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power, Cumbey connects the dots to the Institute of Noetic Sciences. And she adds important pieces to the perplexing puzzle of interconnections between key evangelical leaders and ranking New Agers.

Here’s a good example of how such New Age doctrines are making their way into our churches, courtesy of folks like Patricia King and an introduction to Ekstasis “worship”.

When you appeal to people to come to Christ on the basis of what they already want, 1st Corinthians 2 makes no sense! The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit, they are foolishness to him. Therefore if you offer to people what they do not consider foolishness in the natural man, you’re not preaching the Gospel.

And the Prosperity Gospel offers to people what they desperately want as fallen people, gives it to them and grows huge churches … I can’t believe what we tolerate in the Church, so I am on a crusade to crucify the Prosperity Gospel!”
