Fourteen years, 2,300 scientists from 40 countries and some US$5 billion later…
Scientists in Connecticut and around the world will be watching closely today when their colleagues in Switzerland flip the switch on what is being touted as the world’s grandest experiment in particle physics.
If all goes according to plan, the Large Hadron Collider, a gigantic particle accelerator underground near Geneva, could re-create the very moment 13 billion years ago when scientists believe a tremendous explosion known as the “big bang” created the universe. (Source)
Gee, fellas, it won’t cost US$5 billion to buy all the 2,300 scientists each a Bible which already has the answer in Genesis 1:1!
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

Hmmm. Better backup my hard disks just in case a cosmic event occurs when they flip that switch.
Brings to mind a certain other event: Gen 11:4-9

They already flipped the switch.
The sad thing is that so many are touting that this event would have triggered the end of the world. In fact, an Indian girl killed herself over fears of this ‘end of the world’ theory (Source).

Ah well.
“Micro black holes that could suck in the surrounding planets.” “Powerful earthquakes strike Asia.”

So let me get this straight: You would rather science limit our knowledge to what was known to the 1st century Biblical authors as opposed to the accumulation of knowledge and learning over the entire history of human existence?
This research may seem pointless to you but put it in a different context. What if we did that for the Pathogenic Theory of Medicine (aka “germs make you sick”)? Where would we be if we all limited our knowledge of disease to the Bible’s explanation?

On the contrary, the scientists are spending so much money and resources trying to put a veil over the eyes of many who can see for themselves that what we call ‘nature’ has so much evidence of a Creator God.
Romans 1:20 says “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”
The research is pointless because the answer’s already been given to us by the Creator Himself, through God’s Word, the Bible.
This amount of money and resources could have easily gone toward better causes and advances in medicine or feeding the increasing number of hungry, for example. It’s also ironic that the same scientists who believe that an explosion, the Big Bang, brought about life but would not spend less creating mini explosions in the hope that the LHC will *boom! tada!* come to exist.

I’m not sure how your point has been furthered at all by your response. What advances in modern medicine or advances in modern agricultural technology have come from the Bible?
You may hate science ideologically but I’d be surprised if you put those beliefs to the test in practice. For example, in your post http://wordnverse.com/2008/01/14/the-lord-heals/ you mention taking painkillers and antibiotics.
I’m assuming, of course, that these are modern antibiotics that were developed from our understanding of micro-organisms in chemistry and biology rather than 1st century oils (although even those oils were mainly from ancient Chinese and Arabs, not divinely-inspired).
In no other discourse is this acceptable. If your son or daughter came home from school with an F in Calculus, but only because they had the firm belief that they were only to use knowledge from the 1st century (i.e. Archimedes but not Newton or Leibniz), you’d better hang it on the refrigerator.
I would argue that one can not use science when it’s convenient with the belief that scientists are out to get religion simply because what is discovered about our world usually differs from our 1st century ancestors’ understanding.
