Please bear in mind as you read this that I am warning you in good faith and Christian love.
I am not too sure how to put it, but just last night (Saturday), I had a dream where I had a prompting that somehow one of the two guest pastors speaking at City Harvest Church this weekend would come out in support of Todd Bentley, thereby favorably introducing Bentley to an unsuspecting congregation in Singapore.
(The other guest pastor was Robb Thompson, who, in my opinion, executed a classic bait-and-switch at the end of his sermon, urging the many youths in the congregation to tithe beyond what they have normally given. In other words, he’s another prosperity preacher selling the “sow and reap” principle for success in life).
Moreover, this morning I just had an urge to catch the “live” sermon on the church’s web site.
Not only did I discover that this pastor Che Ahn helms Harvest Rock Church — a church that supports the Florida Outpouring, but he himself knows Todd personally and was enthusiastically promoting Todd’s ministry during the service in question.
This is the first time I have heard of Che Ahn and his church, so I am going to reserve comment on the rest of the “sermon” he gave and the healings, although I feel I need to point out that there was a lot of cherry-picking when it comes to quoting verses to support his agenda, and his hermeneutics on the Lord’s Prayer just made me cringe.
Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, my intention is to warn you against listening to and believing what this pastor said about Todd Bentley to be true.
In case you haven’t been catching up on the “revival” happening down in Florida, Todd Bentley’s been on a good number of good Christian blogs and web sites for all the wrong reasons.
There probably exists enough material on blogs and web sites about Todd Bentley now to warrant a book, but I’ll just point you to a few good resources where you can read and judge for yourselves if this man is indeed a man of God or simply a charlatan and a liar.
Please, I beseech you, please, please refer to your Bible as the ultimate authority on all things related to the faith, and ask the following questions, among others:
- Is there any record in the Bible of actual healing done the way Bentley does his which includes, get this, drop-kicking people, kicking old ladies in the face with a boot, or even running down someone until a man lost a tooth?
- Is there any record in the Bible of such acts of drunken-ness when one is “drunk on the Spirit”?
- Is God’s color primarily pink as Bentley claims?
- If you watch the video where many believe he might have been possessed instead of being filled in the Spirit, will you actually identify that to be what Charismatics call “holy laughter”? For that matter, is “holy laughter” even mentioned as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit in a person Biblical?
Here are the resources which I hope you will seriously look into and judge for yourself if what Bentley claims to be a revival is truly one:
- An 8-part series on the “Outpouring” by Phil Naessens at Theology Today, starting with part one here.
- “Tackling, leg-dropping, punching, choking, and kicking ladies in the face: Todd Bentley’s new way of healing” at Defending. Contending.
- Todd Bentley’s account of an “angelic visitation” and his encounter with them, which worryingly sounds like alien abduction.
- What possesses Todd Bentley? Please be warned that you should be covered by the blood of Christ Jesus before watching this!
- Apostasy: Forget Jesus, Believe in Angels. Watch as Todd Bentley claims that God’s primary color is pink. Scroll right to the end of the post for the videos.
- A great post on the Todd Bentley “phenomenon” by LaVrai — “Todd Bentley Imparts Anti-Christ Spirit“.
- Good list of articles on Todd Bentley and the false outpouring at Living In The Way; you can start with “Lakeland Healings: Are They Real? Does It Matter?“
- And finally, Index to All Articles on Todd Bentley at End Times Prophetic… great list here and though it might be long and look intimidating, please take the time to go through most of them.
I never thought I’d have to sound out such a loud warning to my brethren and sisters here in Singapore, but this pastor Che Ahn has in one stroke brought this false teacher and prophet Todd Bentley so close to our shores that I cannot stand by and do nothing if I were to call myself Christian!
Before you start posting any accusatory comments that I am unloving or a Pharisee (as some are prone to do in response to my posts on CHC), I reiterate that it is not my intention to discredit anyone or City Harvest Church, but to shine a light on the dark deeds of this liar Todd Bentley in order to expose them.
Addendum: Please also read some disturbing discoveries about Che Ahn that I have dug up.

It is indeed a great joy to me to hear that!
2 Peter 2 (ESV)
I almost have to chuckle at that site Lee. Like you, I have been blessed by Mr. Washer’s testimony and preaching. My Pops actually traveled to Peru with a couple other brothers and Mr. Washer to preach last February. I’ve met him briefly as well and spoken with him. He’s just another brother, no different than you or me–except taller (of course, everybody’s taller than me). No doubt at some point he’ll say or do something that we all will frown on or something, as yet, the Lord has used him and others greatly. I don’t thank God for them as much as I thank Him for using them.
A lot of people tend to idolize men like Washer. This is extremely inappropriate on so many levels. Likewise, that site was about as unBiblically based and anger infused as one can get: also inappropriate.
It’s so neat to see someone with a testimony like yours Lee. It makes me wonder even more at the marvelous power of God unto salvation.
By the way Lee,
I was thinking about this whole thing kinda sorta the other day myself. Here are my thoughts should you care to peruse.

I think that’s a great reminder, S.J., often times we can lean towards that dangerous edge.
BTW, I don’t think I’ll be taller than you, ha ha! I consider myself rather short.

That’s a good article from brother S.J., I’ve found his blog to be encouraging and S.J. has my respect. Bookmark it.
I agree with the minister Paul on the you tube video. If the Holy Spirit isn’t convicting you and you are not dying to self each day then you truly are not born again. Repent and pray for discernment daily and believe that God is who He says He is no matter what happens or what we go through. We are His children and as His creation he deserves our reverence love and loyalty. Oh the beauty of the Lamb. Praise Him Praise Him only He is worthy of all praise.
