I think much of the world has lost the true meaning of love. It's now this rainbow-colored (oops, did I just sound like Todd Bentley?) myriad of all-good emotions that doesn't come with some "downsides" like chastisement, trial-by-fire, etc. It sure sounds like "love" nowadays just means saying the nicest, oft-times untrue things so that people continue to love you, and not that you really love them enough to warn or chastise. In which case, it's not love, but hypocrisy at its worst! Great additions, Carol! Thank you for your contributions. :)

I think much of the world has lost the true meaning of love. It’s now this rainbow-colored (oops, did I just sound like Todd Bentley?) myriad of all-good emotions that doesn’t come with some “downsides” like chastisement, trial-by-fire, etc. It sure sounds like “love” nowadays just means saying the nicest, oft-times untrue things so that people continue to love you, and not that you really love them enough to warn or chastise.

I hope many read the verses before and after Matthew 7:23 where Jesus shall say to those that He never knew them -- especially Matthew 7:15-20 and Matthew 7:24-27, for therein lies what our Lord requires of us.
