A La Carte {Wed, Apr 23 2008}

I am going through a bad case of bloggers’ block at the moment, but with so many thoughts on my mind I’d really like to share, I thought this a la carte series would be a good way to do so without having to kill too many brain cells trying to conjure up a decent post.

There Is A “The Other Side”

This video reminded me a lot of the time when my maternal grandpa passed away when I was very young. I still vividly remember the conversation that an aunt had with my mom when the latter asked what his last words were (we lived a distance away and wasn’t there when my grandpa passed on).

My aunt recounted that my grandpa was asking those who had gathered around him at his bed why he was looking down at a very dark place below him and hearing horrible screams. He was afraid and struggled to hang on to the very last breath.

Till today, the recollection of his last words still send shivers down my spine.

If you have friends and loved ones who aren’t saved, and they have access to the Internet, please send them this:

Earth Day

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m beginning to think that Earth Day and all those things that get people all over the world to come together and do something nice to save the earth is fast becoming a new religion.

In fact, I’d even go as far to state that Gaia, or “mother” earth, is fast becoming a god for most environmentalists. Stating this does not mean that I don’t care about the earth or the environment; I recycle as much as I can, but the obsession with this global warming (or is it cooling?) is getting to be rather unhealthy.

Did He Share The Gospel?

Pope Benedict XVIJust a thought: did Pope Benedict XVI share the Gospel even once during his tour of the United States of America?

I mean, he had the rapt attention of everyone he came across, and maybe it’s just that I am being nit-picky, but that just sounds like a great opportunity to share the Gospel with millions instead of spouting nonsense about world peace like a participant in a beauty contest!

Plain Heresy!

While some don’t share the Gospel, some twist and deny it despite calling themselves Christians.

Here’s Mr. Emergent himself, Brian McLaren, telling students at Willow Creek student ministries conference to lessen focus on eternity.

Hiatus

I’m having a pretty bad case of the bloggers’ block and so I think it just might be a good time to go on a short hiatus. There are drafts sitting in my Windows Live Writer that I just haven’t been able to continue past a couple of paragraphs.

I think it’ll be better that I don’t laden you with bad posts, so a hiatus I’ll take, and (hopefully) come back refreshed. If you’d like to be notified when I finally come out of hibernation and post something new, subscribe to my RSS feed.

In the meantime, I do hope the film distributors here bring in Ben Stein’s movie soon because I’m almost at the point of going stark raving mad if I read one more great review of the movie from my well-meaning brethren!

For now, I’m going to console myself with the “super” trailer of the movie…

Thanks for the link Isaiah. I hope that you have a refreshing break from writing. I would encourage you to perhaps do some “off-line” reading. Read through a book and then do a review, etc. That has helped me when I wasn’t sure what to write about - it gave me ideas.

The best bloggers are those who read, but you are right to take a break. Quality of posts are definitely more important than quantity.

Thank you for the advice, Shane. I haven’t been much pleased with my posts of late personally, so this hiatus is self-imposed before more folks get conjunctivitis. :))

Hi Isaiah am with Shane on this, do have yourself a wonderful time off, and I pray that you return refreshed and happy too… but a word of advice don’t judge yourself too harshly and remember, God works in mysterious ways , even the unlearned, preach the gospel and God shows His power through them as long as they are available for His use, it’s not by power, or by might but by the Spirit of the Lord… so try to always remember that the Holy Spirit controls what you do and also your blogging. think about that ok before you go on the break or else the devil will keep giving you excuses to go on breaks .

Sometimes when I feel my post is nothing, that is the particular one that Gives God the Glory and blesses people more. it is a personal experience.

    Godbless

Haha, probably you should take up a break and new inspirations shall come. Just a suggestion though, maybe you write something different now, instead of ranting about those false gospels/prosperity/emergent/pope etc., try writing something like the goodness of God, you know the power of the Cross etc., the Glory of God etc.

yup, do spend some time reading and studying. It’s never good running on empty. With regards to Ben Stein’s movie, I have a bad feeling that the ever so politically-correct governmental agency will not risk showing it here.

And about the environmentalist issue, you know how much profit those environment companies made because there exists such environmental fanatics?

I’m currently part-timing in a Construction company and they are doing a mitigation work on a river so they have to send in all these ‘environmental’ consultants to make sure that the environment is not affected and that cost a whopping amount of 60K consultation fees! My goodness the profit margin is so high.. All they do is take some photos, send some man to observe the site workers, conduct some soil and river water test and thats all, oh yeah, last but not least, to make sure that you are observing the nation’s environment law otherwise they will fine you.

I guess so. Probably in line with the thinking of Singaporeans in general, especially the sheeple. I.e. (Doctrine, Critical Thinking etc.) Expelled, no intelligence allowed — Just warm the pews, pay your tithes, bring more friends to do the same, and OBEY YOUR LEADERS.
