I kid you not when I say that there are just some really, really bad ‘Christian’ T-shirt folks out there. So, if you plan on proclaiming your faith with a Christian T-shirt, please do it with some discernment.
I present to you three of the worst examples:
The Blood-Wiser
The blood that our Lord Jesus Christ shed on the cross is made a mockery, tagged to the ‘wiser’ so that the new ‘word’ rhymes with a popular brand of beer.

Tongues Tees
That’s right, folks! Start praying in tongues just by reading out the ‘tongue’ phrases printed on these T-shirts.

Happy Hour
If you were a parent, would you allow your daughter to wear T-shirts that proclaim ‘Join Me For A Good Time’ or something along those lines?
I doubt it, but the folks who thought this up for a Christian evangelism T-shirt obviously either don’t have daughters or are just trying too hard.

I shudder to think if any self-respecting Christian would buy and wear these T-shirts…

Can I add distastefull church signs? Nothing is worse than a church who thinks they are going to bring people into Christ trying to use the same kind of “cleverness” on the church sign as can be seen on some t-shirts. I have yet to see it be effective for the gospel. Sometimes they are so poorly done that I find in offensive that they are representing Christ.
I will quote the words of Paul Washer on this one (not exact quote): “You are taking the holiest of names and plastering it on a t-shirt! The name of Jesus is holy and you should tremble to utter his name!”
I know none of these t-shirts used Jesus specifically, but that is definitely the implication I think.
I completely agree with you!
Thats blasphemous!
i think we must be careful about all the arts that used for evangelism, because it will deliver another message and meaning
Thank you for visiting my blog and sharing, Tony.
I’ve seen some of those church signs online at some sites, and heard a few mentioned on Way of the Master Radio. I think I just saw one on a website that went “Godly marriage, Great Sex” or something for a series on marital sex. Ugh!
Shalom!
Hello Adam, thank you for visiting my blog and sharing your thoughts on this.
Yessiree, Paul Washer sure got it right on the nail! It’s just stupendously amazing what these folks are doing, and they think that they are doing God a service.
Shalom.
My sentiments exactly, Sidharth!
The best form of evangelism is to go out there and share the Gospel, the other is to live our lives in such a manner glorifying to God so that we are the light and salt.
Great to see you again, Sigit.
Undiluted Ignorance. . . brother this is bad if I have to say so my self
Godbless
Holiness within and without is what we must fight for in Christianity, anything short is terrible and would have serious consequences.
How can they make those things? I shudder when I see some Christians with pierced body parts, nose rings and punk hair styles with tatoos.
Need I say that I hate judging/condemning anybody, but on this… I have to say they have gone too far using the Name of the Lord in Vain.
Godbless
Yes, ChannelofHealing, its really bad. I sputtered when I saw the Blood- T-shirts, hence the title of the post.
You’re absolutely spot on about holiness within and without. The sad thing is that the modern church does not teach against those things, or that holiness is also to be separate from the world.
Shalom!
This is what happens when a whole generation of new Christians are developing their Theology from what they hear in “Christian” music. Don’t miss-understand, I love contemporary Christian music, but there are some really bad lyrics that are passing for “Christian” out there, and if that is all you ever get t-shirts like these are the natural result.
If the church would just get back to teaching the Bible I think things like this would disappear.
Peace brother!
Oh, there are so many bad CCM artistes out there, its unbelievable!
I heard snippets of some over at Way of the Master Radio as part of their showcase of the worst CCM a few weeks ago, and they made me barf.
Personally, I like CCM too but I am very selective of what I listen to.
It’s great to see you again, Chris!
Shalom.
Hi Isaiah,
Ok, here’s my take on the T-Shirts. While I don’t think that the Blood T-shirt is appropriate, I have seen some that while not necessarily tasteful, I think sometimes, they proclaim to the world that while we are Christ followers, we are still human. We still have desires and wants just like everyone else, and being a Christ follower doesn’t really make us holier- than- thou. Just forgiven. Does that make any sense? I wouldn’t wear these shirts, either, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t see that they are horrible (at least not some of them.) I think God gave us a sense of humor to be used. Though I don’t think it should be used to mock Him. I also don’t think that piercings and colored hair have anything to do with how much of a Christ follower a person is. I think someone with those can be as much of a Christ follower as I am. It’s only when we use those as a means of worshipping something other than God that it becomes a bad thing. I just think we need to remember that none of us is perfect, and we don’t all make great choices all the time. I think we need to have a spirit of humility when we see people with these T-shirts and body alterations. And we can say to ourselved, but for the grace of God, go I. But we should not be passing judgement, only by what a person wears. I do know of some that have seen those same T-shirts that we see as blasphemous, bring others to at least want to know God, whereas, they may not have before. Again, let me say that I do NOT approve of these shirts, but who am I to judge??? Perhaps the next time we see one of these, we should be asking ourselves if the person is a Christian already and if they are, privately and gently, informing them of the possibility of defaming God, by their appearance. Blessings and Shalom.
hiya Shalene:
I do agree with you on the parts about not judging others by their appearances as we humans tend to very often do.
I also agree that there are some T-shirts that we can take with a pinch of salt, e.g. the ones with the ‘tongues’ on them as a, say, ironical look at how some denominations ‘teach’ members to speak in tongues.
You have the right approach if any brother or sister is wearing one of these T-shirts, but I still think they shouldn’t be printed at all, especially the one with the Blood and the last which is totally in bad taste.
Why can’t they print things like Bible verses on them? I don’t like those with the motifs and symbols or even the ‘face of Jesus’ on them.
Shalom!
Actually, they do print those kind of shirts. As a matter of fact, I have a few of them. But I think that some people’s attention needs to be gotten in ways that sometimes don’t make sense. As in the “blood” t-shirt, though I agree it was in totally bad taste, a drinker might take a second look at that t-shirt. Just a thought. Anyway, like I said, I think we need to look at the motives behind the t-shirts, and not just the t-shirts themselves. Blessings and Shalom.
No doubt about that, Shalene, re: the beer drinkers in a bar, but I still think there are better messages that can be put up on the T-shirt. Being in a normal T-shirt or a normal polo and approaching them with the Gospel would be the best approach.
That’s just my opinion because I’m quite careful about doing things just so that the ends justify the means when it comes to all things pertaining to our faith.
Shalom!
Good grief! Those are the worst t-shirts I have ever seen, talk about trying to fit in with the world.
Very much so, mate.
Thank you for the visit and sharing.
Shalom!
