Though I have been too tired to blog in the latter part of last week, I have been spending time reading my favorite blogs and checking out new sites. It is something I haven’t done for some time now, just letting the mouse clicks take me to both duds and gems.
I have here three gems that I’d love to share with you; and I hope that you will find them enjoyable as much as I did.
Hebrew4Christians.com
I love, love, love Hebrew4Christians.com because I have always wanted to learn Hebrew. So far I have been able to catch a few words and trying hard to memorize the Hebrew alphabet, but I have also been blown away by how beautiful Hebrew is (to me at least).
And the best thing about the site is that it has Hebrew audio files of Biblical blessings and prayers like the Aaronic blessing, the Lord’s Prayer, and even Psalm 23!
There are also great articles on the Shabbat, the relationship between the Church and Israel, whether Christians should be circumcised, and interesting topics on whether tattoos are kosher.
I am now really tempted to get the book to learn Biblical Hebrew as a Christmas present to myself, not only to achieve my aim of learning Hebrew but also to support the site.
Sounds of Shalom
Still on Hebrew and Israel — if you love Messianic praise music as much as I do, you’ll love this online radio station! Since discovering it, I’ve left it on whenever I’m at the computer.
The station plays music from popular artistes that most of us know of, like Paul Wilbur, Ted Pearce and Barry & Bayta Segal. In addition, you’ll soon discover many more great artistes like I have.
To play the station, you’ll need the RealPlayer (get the FREE version which is sufficient).
A Little Leaven
This is a gem of a site offering a glimpse into the weird and totally non-Biblical things people and churches are doing today in this age of the great falling away.
Be stumped by what apostates are doing in the name of God, e.g. the gay and lesbian Bible, a “Jesus is my homeboy” thong for ladies, and *gasp!* Christian erotica!
Who needs the devil when you have apostates like them, eh?
I hope you enjoy the sites as much as I have.

Dear Nicholas:
Glad you like them too.

It’s been some time, brother. How have you been? I am finally back from reserves training and loving every minute of civilian life now, lol!Shalom!
-
Dear Sidharth,
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! I don’t really see myself as an encourager, more like just someone who just loves to share the good things with everyone I know.
I do hope you enjoy the sites as much as I have.

And thank you for visiting time and again and sharing so much with your comments! I really really appreciate it. Thank you also for linking me; it’s an honor because I consider your blog to be one of the best Christian blogs! Your passion and love for God is a great example for me to try to emulate, brother. The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
Shalom!

Oh I love love love Hebrew too! =) The language is so beautiful! I had gone through that site earlier. I love the prayer in Hebrew.
I’m learning Hebrew too! =)
I have a friend by the name PJ Sorensen of the Signs and Wonders Ministry [www.signs-and-wonders.org]. She is a Messianic Jew and I learn some Hebrew from her. =) Other than that I know some songs in Hebrew. One of my favorites is “Hi ne ma tovu ma na im Shevat achim gamyachad”

I wish I could learn Hebrew. It is a beautiful language.
Blessings,

Dear Sidharth:
Glad you enjoyed it too! The prayers in Hebrew are just amazing, aren’t they?!
How are you learning Hebrew? I found that it is a language that cannot really be self-taught and does need a teacher, especially with the pronunciations. You are blessed to have a Jewish friend teaching you. Can we engage her together as a teacher? LOL!
Who sings that song? I’d love to hear it one day.
God bless, and Shalom!

Dear Lance:
I am sure you can, brother. I totally agree with you that it’s a beautiful language. Just the other day I saw a woman on the train to work reading this thick book called Biblical Hebrew and I was just so tempted to ask her to let me have a look at it, heh!
She was studying it like she was preparing for an examination so I decided not to ask her for the favor.
God bless, and Shalom!
-
Dear Sidharth:
I believe I am in for a real treat then!!

I’d really love to hear you sing one. Please do send it to my email at ikechua@gmail.com. Incidentally, if anyone would like to email me directly, you are most welcome to at that address.God bless, and Shalom!

You may also want to check out this free audio site:

Dear Jacob:
Thank you for the recommendation! I have just visited the site and like it lots, although I do get the feeling that I need to first get the basics down pat before anything else. The proper pronunciation that your site teaches is really helpful though.
God bless, and Shalom!

Add that to the list of languages I’d like to learn. My Dad has often expressed some dismay that he never learned Hebrew because he’s missing out on some many subtleties in the Bible. (Apparently, Adam is very close to the Hebrew word for mud or clay. Given that the first time the first man is referred to by that name is when God is enumerating the various punishments for eating the forbidden fruit, it’s kinda like God is saying “Oh, by the way, your name is Mud.” I wonder how many other puns are in Holy Writ?)
