Everything Else Pales In Comparison

Everything pales in comparisonFor the past few weeks, I have been picking up the Bible and reading it again, starting with the New Testament at Matthew.

And I can honestly tell you that it’s a brand new experience when you read the Bible again with a closer relationship with Yahweh.

You see, I never considered myself to have read the entire Bible.

If you define “read the entire Bible” as having read all the words in the Bible from cover to cover (Genesis to Revelation), that I have done.

However, if you define “read” as I do now, which is “to absorb, understand and apply”, no, I am ashamed to say that I haven’t read the Bible this way in its entirety (well, except maybe for the Book of Revelation).

Yet nowadays, I am experiencing a renewed thirst to read the Bible. It is quite difficult to express, but what it means is that when I awake in the morning, I actually have this urge to read at least a chapter of the Bible or even a few verses if there isn’t time.

While on the way to work on a train, I keep wishing that I had brought along my Bible with me. And before I go to sleep at night, the Bible is the last piece of literature I want to pick up and read.

This thirst for the Word is a new experience for me, and I have never experienced it so strongly before, not even when I was a new Christian, and definitely not in the years when I backslided and fell through the gaps like water off a duck’s back.

I pray that Yahweh sustains my renewed thirst for the Word, and that I shall never stop being thirsty for His truth.

Shalom.

I will pray for your continued thirst as well. Sometimes I think maybe these blogs aren’t so much God’s way of helping us to reach others for Him, as His way of reaching us more fully. I know I didn’t read my bible nearly as much as I do now, in my desires to reach others for HIM. Isn’t it delightful how God works in our lives?
    God bless you and Shalom.

    Dear Shalene:

Our God is indeed an awesome God! :-) Yes, you are so right — I have grown much as well in my walk with God through blogging.

However, it must be said that it’s because God has blessed me much and led me to meet all of you who visit my blog and continue to encourage and inspire me.

    God bless, and Shalom Aleichem!
